Bali Earthquake Rocks Region

7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 has struck the Bali Sea region of Indonesia, causing widespread damage and panic. The quake struck at 3:55am local time (5:55am AEST) and was centered approximately 112 kilometers north of Denpasar, the capital of Bali.

Tsunami Warning Issued

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a tsunami warning following the quake, but it was later lifted. However, residents in coastal areas have been advised to evacuate to higher ground as a precaution.

Significant Damage Reported

There have been reports of significant damage to buildings and infrastructure in both Bali and Lombok islands. The earthquake has also triggered landslides and caused power outages in the affected areas.

Casualties Unknown

The exact number of casualties is still unknown, but local authorities have reported that at least three people have been killed. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate and assist those who may be trapped or injured.
