Prayer Times Announced
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Qatar has announced the official prayer times and locations for Eid al-Adha 2022. This year, Eid al-Adha is expected to fall on Sunday, July 10th, 2022. The Eid prayer will be held at 5:05 am in 588 mosques and prayer grounds across the country.The Eid prayer is a special prayer performed by Muslims after the sunrise on the first day of Eid. It is a mandatory prayer for those who are able to attend and is considered one of the most important prayers in the Islamic calendar.
In addition to the mosques, the prayer will also be held at several open-air grounds, including Aspire Park, Oxygen Park, and Al Wakra Sports Club. The Ministry has advised worshippers to arrive early to secure a spot, as large crowds are expected.
Following the prayer, there will be a khutbah (sermon) by the Imam. The khutbah will focus on the significance of Eid al-Adha and its importance in the Islamic tradition.
Eid al-Adha is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar. It marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
During Eid al-Adha, Muslims typically exchange gifts, visit friends and family, and enjoy a feast. They also sacrifice an animal, such as a goat, sheep, or cow, to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has urged all worshippers to follow the safety guidelines during the Eid prayer, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
